THE CAR

Peugeot 205 1600 GTI

The latest on the car is...we are changing the clutch and uprating the suspension. We have decided that tarmac rallying isn't what we want to do for the rest of the season so we are preparing the car for the Galloway Hills Rally (which doesn't take place until December) this rally takes place in the forests in and around the Castle Douglas area of the region. We still have to put the engine and gearbox back into the car after Ingliston! It's been non stop here at HQ so haven't had much time to get things done!

The car was bought as a normal everyday road car and has been totally stripped out and the following has been done:

Seam welded in places to add strength. A full OMP roll cage has been fitted for safety, 2 Sabelt bucket seats, 2 Securon 6 point harnesses 1 plumbed in fire system and a hand held fire extinguisher, all fuel lines and brake lines put inside car.   A fly off handbrake has also been fitted.
On the technical side we have an upgraded brake system with braided lines, new grooved discs and competition front pads and rear brake shoes. The engine and gearbox have had a rebuild and it is all looking in tip top condition.
We will also be adding a differential unit to the gearbox through time.
We have also fitted bilstein suspension front and rear.
A sump guard has also been fitted to protect the engines oil sump and also a tank guard which protects the fuel tank. This is manufactured out of 6mm alloy; this ensures that no protruding rocks etc can damage either the oil sump or fuel tank when competing on the stages.
The car will be running 14” & 15” Compomotive and Speedline wheels, using Yokohama tarmac tyres.

The car is nearly finished. We had a test in the car earlier in the year, which allowed us to set the car up accordingly to make it competitive for the 2006 championship.
As long as we can keep the car reliable we will be a happy team in 2006.
